OpenRouter for Video: Sora, Veo, Kling, and Seedance in One Place

Image models were the first half of OpenRouter’s creative story. Video is the half that still ships as four separate subscriptions. You do not need four. You need to know text-to-video vs first-frame, then switch.
Pantr’s video catalog sits on OpenRouter the same way stills do: curated rows, API price in the bar, wallet or your key. This is not every video ID OpenRouter lists. It is the set we actually run.
Two jobs, don’t mix them
Text-to-video (example: Sora 2 Pro) wants the image selection cleared. You describe the clip; it starts from nothing.
First-frame (Seedance, Veo, many Kling modes) wants exactly one still selected. That still is frame one. The prompt is motion, not “draw me a new picture.” If you leave extra images selected, generation should refuse — not guess.
On Pantr 2.0, context-menu Animate switches the prompt bar to Auto video (or keeps a first-frame model if you already picked one). You are not going back to a separate Veo modal.
A starting map
| Model | Start here when | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Seedance 2.0 Mini | Cheap first-frame, lots of tries | Default-ish video Auto when one still is selected; ~$0.013/s last we synced — check the bar |
| Veo | Cinematic motion, Google’s look | Auto may pick Veo when the prompt reads cinematic |
| Kling | Another first-frame lab to A/B | Same rule: one still |
| Sora 2 Pro | Text-to-video, no start frame | Clear selection |
A/B them like stills: lock the first frame, change only the model. How to A/B. Auto’s version: auto routing.
Face filters and photoreal people
ByteDance’s face filter can reject photoreal people even when Pantr generated the still. OpenRouter does not give us a flag that says “this is synthetic.” If Seedance errors, that is the filter, not you “doing it wrong.” Switch to another first-frame model or change the still. We will not bypass it.
Billing
Video jobs debit the wallet when they start (API price). If the OpenRouter job fails on poll, Pantr refunds that debit. Key mode bills OpenRouter instead. Failed runs should not silently eat a seat you forgot about — that is the point of pay-per-token for creatives.
